A Full Moon, Over The Cascades

I type this sitting on my deck, this most beautiful Saturday night.

The sun has been down for hours, and a huge, bright, full moon has risen over the mountains.

I see from my comfortable chair, the moonlight shining on the water, the gentle waves rippling, giving movement to the light.

To my right stands the mountain. Majestic, huge, dominating the landscape with its grandeur.

Bats flying in front of me, overhead, their nightly pursuit of good things to eat.

I look up the river. The beach in front of me is vacant, nature alone tonight. Lights in the distance, along the banks of the river. People, doing as I, sitting, awed by the moonlight.

I can imagine the view. I would love to be living with that.

I have something as powerful, but much different. I could describe it, but I want to remain private. My view of the environment around me is profoundly beautiful in a way different from what you describe. My wife and I feel privileged and happy to be where we are.

We have friends in inner cities with traffic, noise, pollution, and lack of any privacy. We often try to give them a relief by short vacations with us in some place that is as beautiful as you describe.

i shared the same full moon.
dare i say 'share'?
it's Yours, not mine to give

it knows itself in You
You, too, move tides

(thank you for your recent comment on my blog. i am thrilled by the visit.

You (added firmly now) will be frequent reading for me, for my instruction and joy)

Susan's pet,

I share your desire for open spaces. While I truly love the city, I think that I would go mad being surrounded by so many people.

I don't want to hear the people next door when I'm contemplative and I don't want to worry about them hearing me when I'm having fun with a splendid victim!

I'm not a complete hermit, I enjoy many of the people who live around here, and I like seeing their lights in the distance at night. That's the thing though, in the distance, not right next door.
