The English Police State

My readers in the United Kingdom should be aware of the new pornography possession laws that have taken effect there.

Christine and David provide a good analysis on the DOMestic blog:

UK Censorship and Porn Possession Law Comes Into Effect

If this is true, and I assume it is, it reminds me of "Fahrenheit 451".

We in the United States of America have a slight chance of undoing such extremely invasive laws by our government. However, I write this with trepidation in view of the recent unwitting (by the starry-eyed population) shift toward socialism via Mr. Barack Hussein Obama's agenda.

so what about all those people who are constantly harping on just how open everyone is in Europe...Im telln ya, when socialist/communits start running the government and toss in a mix of Muslim and or religious extremeists then this is what happens.....to arms to arms the totalitarians are comming

Susan's pet,

While I have no first hand knowledge, I do assume it is true. I remember hearing something about it in the mainstream media before Christine and David alerted me to the changes in their home country.

I think that the American people hold two massive advantages over the English. The first must certainly be a willingness to fight our own government. When we shared the same government and that government became overly tyrannical the English suffered with it, we Americans started killing it's agents and soldiers, not stopping until they left us alone. Much has changed since then of course, but I believe that Americans still retain a very strong view of their individual rights, and a willingness to fight for them if needed. Secondly of course we have a written constitution. The English also have a constitution, but no one ever bothered to write the damn thing down. Alas, it gets awfully easy for the government to forget what the constitution says if it isn't written down.

I must admit that I'm not too worried about Mr. Obama moving us too far to the left. If he does so the Republicans will take over Congress less than two years from now and place a firm check on any lefty craziness.

bdenied,

Alas I must admit that I too am not a very big fan of any European government.

The baby boom generation is still alive and well, so thus far one can still say that Europe has not yet gone a single generation without unthinkably horrible war.

Let us hope that European governments have learned from the mistakes of the past, but it is certainly too early to tell.

I guess in fairness though, I should also admit that I'm not a fan of any government!
