Elected Officials Fuck

They also suck, play with themselves, have affairs, partake in threesomes, explore fetishes, and enjoy bdsm.

They are a reflection of society at large; they are a reflection of us.

Elected officials fuck.

I would have assumed this truth to be self-evident.

Apparently it is not.

I find it very odd that we as a society always react negatively when we learn that our elected officials do indeed fuck. That they are indeed human.

I am not sure how we as a society expect them to reproduce, but it seems we just might think that they utilize some form of asexual reproduction not yet recognized by science.

This post is not a commentary upon those politicians who are rightly ousted for hypocrisy, those who like Washington’s own Representative Richard Curtis vote against equal rights for homosexuals while are indeed homosexual themselves. Such people deserve the ostracism and condemnation they receive.

This post is however a commentary upon those politicians who are ousted from their offices for showing a healthy interest in fucking, but who have not engaged in the condemnation of others, or efforts to keep rights from others simply because of what they enjoy in the bedroom.

(As an aside, this post is also not about Airstream brand travel trailers, and I think that I may be hearing some cheering about that in the background!)

The latest victim of this nonsense, of societies shock that elected officials actually fuck is Arlington Oregon Mayor Carmen Kontur-Gronquist.

The Mayor has an exquisite body, and to document it she had some not very racy erotic pictures taken. She’s a single mom, and shocker of shockers, she would like to have someone whom she can love and fuck. To find that special someone she posted these pictures on MySpace.

Well, of course the town found out, and of course the town was outraged. The Mayor was forced from office.

The story from MSNBC

What I am proud to see is that the Mayor did not shy away from the controversy, nor did she apologize for her actions. Rather, in true capitalist fashion she decided to sell some of the pictures on eBay. Signed even. You can buy yours here.

I bought mine yesterday, and am proud to have the opportunity to show her my support.

This nation, our nation, faces serious problems. We need the very best people possible in our elected positions each of them doing their best to move our country through troubled times.

We don’t have those people. Congress and the Administration are filled with mediocrities. It is of course much the same on the state and local levels.

Everyone, including politicians, fuck. We demand to know everything there is to know about our politicians, including whom and how they fuck, then we condemn them for fucking.

We will not get the best and the brightest our nation has to offer as long as this state of affairs is allowed to continue. Extremely smart people will avoid holding public office because they are smart and want to avoid such scandal.

We will have the potential to get the best and the brightest our nation has to offer once we as a society recognize that everyone, each and every one of us, has a skeleton in the closet, that each and every one of us likes to fuck in a way that someone else might just consider strange. We must recognize that whom and how our politicians fuck is private and should not be used against that person. Only if we do these things will extremely smart people want to hold public office for only then will they know that whom and how they fuck will not become household knowledge.

The state of politics in our nation is truly unfortunate. It drives me crazy the way so many citizens seem to revel in the private details of our leaders personal lives. Instead of the debate being focused on plans and strategies to make our future brighter and more prosperous for everyone, much of the talk is centered around silly sex scandals, family issues, or whose preacher said such and such. So many of us have such serious concerns about the state of our nation but, so few of us seem willing to participate in the conversations that will put us back on track. The media and private citizens should learn to set some boundaries and respect the separation between a person private life and public life.

Of course you're right. The belief created a few generations ago that "innocence" is a childlike quality has become the most important factor in choosing a political candidate. From the point of view of the voter, the opposite of guilt is innocence...and we want politicians who aren't guilty.

And as children do not have sex, or shouldn't have sex, the connection has arisen that anyone who has sex can't possibly possess the innocence of children, and therefore must be guilty. So they portray themselves as childlike as possible, in their ads, in their slogans, in their campaign platforms. They believe all the nonsensical things that children believe: the country is infallible, we are all happy, no one who loves you can do anything wrong, blah blah blah.

It would seem to me that the last thing we would want a politician to have would be childlike innocence. Experience would seem to be more important...though the actual importance of experience is right now being demonstrated by two of the presidential candidates running, one for president and one for vice-president.

The problem is that actual experience would demand a recognition that the country isn't fine, that the educational system is a complete failure, that the economy is in the hands of people who would sell the country out for a good deal and that the newsmedia has ceased to say anything relevant to anyone. They would have to admit that people are poor and have no opportunities to change that, that most of the country is woefully ignorant and at the mercy of religious leaders, and that overall the world has such a hate on for America that its getting hard for Americans to travel.

In other words an experienced politician would have to address the problems, instead of offering bogus solutions with no intent of action. But solutions soothe children. Mama will make it better. Papa knows best. Just wait and you'll see. You'll understand when you're older.

But no one in America will ever be older. Even those who fuck are getting younger. They don't seem to understand the world in which they've invested themselves.

Poor Carmen. She lives the life of a politician yet she innocently went about having pictures taken of herself. Right or wrong, she was just stupid to think it wouldn't affect her career. She had her child-blinders on.

Sometimes I think about running for politics. And before the election I would stand up and say, "I fuck. If you fuck, vote for me."

I wouldn't expect to win.

begging4u,

Thank you for your comment. I am pleased to read that I'm not the only one concerned about our societies fascination with violating the privacy of our elected leaders.

alexis,

You are of course correct. We need leaders who are experienced enough to recognize the problems we face, and courageous enough to call for real solutions.

We will not get those leaders though, unless and until we are willing to accept them.

Currently we are not.
